Elmcroft is looking for a Driver for our Continuum of Care Retirement Community. This person is responsible for driving residents to scheduled appointments and activities as well as assisting the Activities Department with daily activities.


This position:


  • Drives the community vehicle to transport Residents on trips outside Elmcroft community for shopping, dining, entertainment, educations and / or to obtain medical or dental services as assigned.
  • Assists residents into and out of vehicle in a safe manner.
  • Secures passengers' wheelchairs to restraining devices to stabilize wheelchairs during trip.
  • Practices safe driving techniques at all times.
  • Cleans and services vehicle with fuel, lubricants, and accessories and reports & coordinates vehicle maintenance repairs.
  • Establishes and monitors daily and weekly trip inspection & preventative maintenance programs and maintains records regarding the maintenance of all vehicles.
  • Ensures charges are submitted to the business office daily for community travel expenses. Maintain a safe driving record according to company guidelines.
  • Handles emergency situations and basic First Aid.
  • Reports potentially unsafe conditions to the Healthy Lifestyles Director and/or Executive Director.
  • Is fully knowledgeable of the fire evacuation and disaster policy of the community and participates in the fire and disaster drills
  • Maintains confidentiality of all pertinent personal or health information concerning residents and staff.
  • Assist Healthy Lifestyles Director as needed to set up and execution of Activities.
  • Answers incoming telephone calls, determining the purpose of the call and directs the call to appropriate personnel or department.
  • Answers general questions about the community and provides callers with address, directions and other information.
  • Welcomes all on-site family members and visitors including vendors, clients, and job candidates, determines nature of business and announces visitors to appropriate personnel
  • Operates personal computer and standard office equipment including photo copier, fax machine, multi-line phone, etc.
  • May assist other departments as needed including Marketing, Dining services, Activities etc.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and which relate to the success of Elmcroft and the Care, Comfort and Happiness of our residents.

High School or GED required.  Must be 21 years of age to drive a commercial vehicle and hold a current Class A or B license (CDL) with passenger endorsement.  Prospective drivers must have and maintain good driving records.
